5th arrondissement
A few of our guests' comments...
My wife, son, and I had previously lived in the 5th Arrondissement (years ago), so we were familiar with rue Claude Bernard and the many attractions of the area. For our June 2009 visit we needed room for our son and his family. The apartment was truly perfect for the five of us. It had excellent amenities and a wonderful location. (For those who don't know Paris, this spot in the Latin Quarter is an exceptionally good "home base.") The size of the apartment was ample, with three separate bedrooms, a great sitting room, and a dining area. It is important to report that working with Michèle de Cointet, and her daughter Juliette (on-site), was a pleasure from start to finish. They were prompt, helpful, and friendly. We applaud all elements of the experience.

'Refined and charming'
"The apartment was perfect. The reviews are all true. I was looking initially in the Marais and has slightly worried about the location but it was great. The transport was easy, we used the 21 and 27 bus which pass along Claude Bernard mostly, but also used the underground. The buses in particular were easy to take the stroller on. As we had a restless toddler we didn't eat out, the closest pizza shop across the road towards luxembourg gardens did really good takeaway. We shopped for food in rue mouffetard mainly and just heated it up at home and made salads. The bread and the goats cheeses were a revelation. For us the little parks in the area with play equipment were great, as well as of course jardin des plantes and luxembourg gardens.
The apartment was very clean and easy to live in, it was obvious it was not just a rental but someone's home, it was set out in a way that was elegant and comfortable, with an understated taste. I really liked the plain quality of the cotton textiles, and the way the apartment was decorated in a way that was respectful to the building. The owner and her daughter very helpful and easy to deal with. The information in the apartment about the area was well considered.
The tourist highlights for us were Rodin and Balzac's houses and the de Chirico and Calder exhibitions. In the decorative arts museum, Jeanne Lanvin's bathroom was amazing, so excessive. Our son loved the carousel and pony cart ride at the Tuileries gardens and the big rocks at Jardin des plantes.

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely apartment which is extremely comfortable and well equipped. Best of all - you can walk to most of the main sites in a very short time and the local shops and restaurants are excellent.

This welcoming apartment offers a place to each member of the family - you can find a room for a teenage and one for a younger child, as well as one for the grandparents (or family friends). There is a space where you can listen to music or watch TV, while your spouse can read a book or browse the net in the other room (office/library room), or fix the dinner in the well-equipped kitchen. The view from the kitchen gives a glimpse into the life of the Parisians, with the view of the surrounding balconies and windows, and the little yard where the neighbors like to gather for intimate celebrations. The hardwood floors and high ceilings add to the charm of this place that is alive with the personalities of its highly cultivated owners through the beautiful drawings on the walls, the little objects decorating the shelves here and there and the amazing collection of books. With the bus stations in front of the building, the beautiful market from rue Mouffetard a few blocks away, and the Seine within 15 minutes walk, this place is perfectly located for any age, ability or interest. I would go back here like going home, as it reminded me of my childhood apartment in a European city.

We loved the classic style of the apartment, the old wood floors, the fireplaces. We also enjoyed looking through the bookshelves. The location is great. New visitors!!! Make sure you go down two blocks and left turn into the market. Have some breakfast at 'La salle à manger'. It's awesome!

We very much enjoyed our stay in Paris, perhaps the most beautiful city in the western world. We were able to recover from long days of sight seeing in your spacious apartment, and we enjoyed the wonderful neighbourhood. We came to feel quite at home from Place Monge to Place d'Italie. Many thanks to Juliette for her carly assistance. Best wishes to you, Michele.

This is a lovely apartment to stay in! My husband, 17 year old daughter, 12 year old son and a family friend stayed here for a week in July . The location is just as described - so convenient to everything - shops, cafes and markets. It really is only a 15 min walk to Notre Dame with the Pantheon to look at on the way! So Paris is easily accessible by foot or indeed by tube or the bus (for example we went directly to the Opera Garnier and the Gare de Lyon by bus). The accommodation is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The library is indeed extensive (we enjoyed looking up the Paris street names in one of the reference books). It was lovely to have a separate dining room, living room and kitchen - so we at no time felt in any way cramped. All in all we really enjoyed our lovely week in Paris and the accommodation was a major factor in this.

This was a splendid and very homely and spacious flat, had a lovely lived in feel, lots of books to browse, and very tastefully furnished. You very much felt like you were in a French person's home rather than a holiday flat.
The area is lovely, perfect for walking and cycling everywhere on the velib bikes, and far enough from the center to get away from the crowds of toursist.
The flat has every comfort, and we wished we had been there for 2 weeks rather than our five days!

This has been a wonderful place to stay and experience Paris for the first time. We have had an amazing time even with the cold weather. Everything is so close and everyone has been friendly. It has been a very special visit shared with my mother, 2 daughters and sister-in-law. A return is required. Thank you so very much.

What a way to conclude a wonderful trip around Europe ! Paris was the perfect ending. The highlights were definitely Disneyland, Eiffel tower, and we really recommend the illumination tour of Paris which is a beautiful cruise…. The place was beautiful. Every night we all slept very comfortably and were specially impressed with how clean the apartment and the kitchen were. Makes you feel right at home.

I felt exceptionally lucky to have found this charming apartment for my family's stay in Paris this March break. The apartment was roomy enough for 5 people, very well equipped and literally steps from rue Mouffetard (a bustling cobblestone street where I could buy fresh croissants every morning, and excellent fish, meat, fruit (and of course cheese!)to prepare meals in the apartment (we did not want to eat out for every meal, and the experience of shopping locally and feeling like we "lived" in Paris was important to us). The apartment felt very much like "home" for the week, and the location was excellent. The owner (Michele) and her daughter (Juliette) were warm and professional. I unhesitatingly recommend this apartment for those who want to feel less like "tourists" in Paris, and more like they are really living there (if only for a short time...!)

Hard to overpraise the apartment and its location. We are a family of four (son is 12, daughter 5). Everyone had a room, the books were fantastic, the place was quiet, the location was perfect. Easy to buy all kinds of fresh food at Rue Mouffetard. Jardin de Luxembourg an easy walk. We loved this place and would live here year round if we could. Also, the family that rents the place could not be more helpful. 11/01/09 Jeffrey Cohen , Washington DC

| A Slice of Paris as sweet as her pastries... | |
| I have never enjoyed an area as much as this one. The owner's lovely daughter Juliette met us as scheduled, and everything was as we expected. We found the apartment clean and in good order and far more than enough room for the four of us. The floors were a bit old and squeaky, but at my age, so am I. The apartment and the Latin Quarter area around it grows on you, and after 3 days, I really didn't want to leave. The garden flowers were in bloom and very beautiful. Compared to California, Paris is a quiet oasis without the horrible boom-box car stereos that plague America. I was rattled back to reality as soon as we arrived home. So thank you for a little slice of French heaven; words cannot adequately convey the wonderful time that we had in your apartment and neighborhood. Please do try and stop by the Cafe La Bourgogne, it was most excellent, as were all of the pastry shops in your area. I think we stopped at every one of them. I would heartily recommend this property for seniors as everything is on one level: a definite plus! Thank you again for having us! If we are fortunate enough to return to Paris, this apartment will be my first choice for accommodations. |

Bonjour. Your apt. was perfect for my family's needs. Juiette's information about the buses and Metro were very useful for us. Having such a comfortable place to stay for our special week allowed us to relax, enjoy the neighborhood and have individual space...something 3 generations of strong women need. We managed to visit the places that gave my family a sense of the flavor of Paris. We took the BatoBbus to the Tour Eiffel and back to Musee D'Orsay. walked to the Arena Lutece and Notre Dame, bussed to the Opera Garnier, walked to the Louvre and Tuilleries, rented boats for the girls to tend, rode the Ferris Wheel, took the Metro to the Arc de Trihompe and walked back down the Champs Eylsee (spelling ?) and visited book stores(we all read), met my Collioure landlady for lunch at a bistrot in the 20th, visited Gare de Lyon to see the TGV and, finally Friday afternoon took the bus to Luxembourg Gardens. The trip was smooth in all respects and accomplished all I had hoped. My daughter took 600 pictures !

We had an incredible time in Paris. The apartment is so charming, and warm and inviting - it was a home to come back to every day. There were so many highlights for all of us....there is an exhibit of Raoul Dufy at the Museum of Modern Art. I have a copy of one of his works, and was so excited to see such a comprehensive exhibit. Two of us went to Normandy for a day, and truly were moved by the exhibits and memorials there.
Juliette was so gracious and helpful. She arranged for our cab when we left Paris....since there were four of us and lots of luggage, we were a little nervous about using our French, and having a problem. She told us about Rue Mouffetard, and we spent a lot of time in the market.....all in all, everything was perfect....thank you so much!!!

Thank you Michele and Juliette.
We had a wonderful holiday in your gorgeous apartment. After hitting the streets of Paris all day with our three children in tow it was bliss returning to ‘our’ warm homely, confortable apartment. The location was fabulous – rue Mouffetard, St Germain etc… so close – we loved the Luxembourg gardens – kids loved the playground, carroussel and pony rides. We found the metro convenient (although a little challenging with our double pram) however the 21 bus was great and took us where we wanted to go. Our children especially loved the little bath – bit of a squeeze for 3 but lots of fun.
Thank you for linking us up with Isabelle who babysat for us and allowed Malcolm and I the opportunity to explore another side of Paris together. 5 weeks here in the Paris apartment was really special family time for us. We feel very grateful to you for sharing your home with us. We hope to return one day !

Thanks, Juliette, for setting us up here and sorting out the odd problem ! The apartment has been fantastic for our week in Paris – very comfortable, clean, safe and homely. Having real possessions, rather them functional furniture, has made this more like a home-swap than a rental. Our children also loved exploring the bookshelves: I don’t think they ever thought Tintin would come in anything other than English !
The rue Mouffetard has been a constant pleasure and everything we were hoping to find we found ! Highly memorable. We all enjoyd riding around, seeing the sights, happy to come back ‘home’ at the dinner time !

We stayed here over Xmas 2008, my wife and teenage children, great location, proximity to the Rue Mouffretard for great food, easy access to Metro, and not too touristy like round the Ile de la Cite, can highly recommend this as a great place to stay
